Greetings and Welcome!  I am Bruce Mack, the musician and teaching artist who founded, developed and facilitates Bruce Mack Creative Music Workshops (BMCMW).  If you are registering for a workshop, thank you and I look forward to meeting you and your child very soon!  Just stopping by?  Then thanks for taking a moment to check out the program!

Bruce Mack Creative Music Workshops are fun-filled opportunities for kids (as well as grown ups!) to learn about music and identify alternate means of expression, with the multi-purposed goals of enhancing a child’s creative development, discovering the joy of playing, learning and getting inside music with other kids their age and realizing the importance of inter-acting in a community via this artistic and educational activity.   For starters, the workshops offer kids a guided hands-on introduction to music.  All participants are encouraged to be interactive, collaborate, listen to music, create music, write songs, sing, and get to experience the concept of playing in a jam band by shaping sound using an assortment of instruments provided by the program.  Kids will also get to record their ideas too. And guess what?  There’s NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!  Being ensemble-like in nature, the workshops build self esteem in kids by orientating them into the idea of their small yet very important role in society.  From the outside looking in, educators will find that BMCMW are also designed to accommodate educators with alternative and creative methods of teaching by demonstrating ways of incorporating the arts in education and show how to use one’s creative talent to maintain one’s personality and confidence throughout the early years of their career.  At the end of a few “jam sessions” everyone will have found and/or practiced new ways of expressing themselves through music without worrying about what they know, can, or cannot do.  And even though instruments (various percussion including drum-set, congas, xylophone, keyboards, electric bass guitar and other fun stuff) are provided, all participants are welcome to bring their own instruments along with their voice.  The only requirements are the willingness to use what you got and express yourself! These workshops are for everyone to learn from!

Click below to check out the documentary “When Fried Eggs Fly” featured in the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival. Each showing was followed by a question and answer session, as well as an improvisational short workshop. The film was the centerpiece of a very successful fundraiser for the arts program at P.S.3. in New York, and was also chosen by Robert deNiro to help raise funds for a different elementary school, in Brooklyn, NY. ”When Fried Eggs Fly” was in rotation on the Starz cable network and screened at an array of higher learning and cultural institutions such as Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education & Psychology, University of Dayton’s School of Education in Ohio, and MOCA Jacksonville (Museum of Contemporary Art in Florida).
